Finding the "Best Chiropractor near me"

“How do I find the best chiropractor in my area?”

I get this question a lot from inquiring minds, and understandably so. When going to a chiropractor, I always say “it’s like a box of chocolates”.  Every chiropractor practices differently.  Some strictly perform               manual adjustments, some use an activator adjustment, some do therapies to help speed up recovery, some take insurance, and there are some that do none of the above!

Finding the right chiropractor in your area may take some research.   If I was looking for a new chiropractor, I would first ask some of my friends that use chiropractic.  Word of mouth referrals are the best way to find a new chiropractor.  Next, I would check out the chiropractor’s website and their google reviews.  It’s another way to see what other’s have experienced at that particular chiropractor.  If you are new to your area and are unfamiliar with the offices in your town, a simple google search of “chiropractors near me” or “best chiropractor in Baldwin City (or whatever town you are searching for)” can help get you started.

If you have found a chiropractor that you love, keep going there!  Lastly, don’t give up if you’ve had a bad experience at a chiropractic office.  Chiropractic care works!! Simply trying a new chiropractor with a different approach may be what you needed to get the results you deserve.

As always, we are here for you.  We have a large network of chiropractors all over the U.S. that we refer to so just ask!

Pain, Pain, Go AWAY! Headache addition

What type of headache do you typically have?

The word ‘headaches’ can vary depending on the location and severity.  In general, most patients tend to have a similar, reoccurring type. Luckily, there is a treatment for these headaches that doesn’t involve taking aspirin every 4-6 hours.

One of the most common types of headaches we treat in the office is cervicogenic headaches.   This particular type of headache starts at the base of your skull and migrates over the top of your head.  Cervicogenic headaches are caused by a mechanical issue within the body, such as tight neck muscles or restricted motion in the spine.

The best way to treat a mechanical issue is with a mechanical solution.  Our office prides itself on getting the best results by combining neck adjustments with soft tissue therapy.  This provides more range of motion in the neck and allows the tight muscles to relax, which takes some pressure off the base of the skull.

Red Flag Headache Symptoms:

  • Sudden, unfamiliar headache

  • “The worse headache I have ever had”

  • Dizziness

  • Difficulty walking

  • Difficulty speaking

If you are experiencing these symptoms seek medical attention (Primary Care Dr. / Emergency Room)

Om Grown Yoga Collective (OMgyc)

At Elite Chiropractic, we are strong believers that movement goes hand in hand with overall health and wellness. Maintaining proper movement and flexibility are key factors in achieving desired function as we move about our daily routine. Dr. Ethan highly recommends yoga to his patients to help compliment chiropractic care. We asked OM Grown Yoga Collective, to share the benefits yoga and what services they have to offer.

Om Grown Yoga Collective (OMgyc) is a collaboration of local yoga teachers who want to bring breath, movement and mindfulness to our community!!

Our goal is to make yoga available, accessible and affordable for everyone; we want to change the world for the better and we want to begin in our own community. No previous yoga experience or certain fitness level is required to attend any of our classes.  Yoga will meet you right where you are!

So, what is yoga? In the most simplistic terms, yoga practice combines aspects of breath, movement and mindfulness to enhance relaxation, mobility, flexibility, balance, strength and coordination.

In western culture, yoga is known primarily as a physical practice designed to stretch the body and many classes also incorporate breath work (pranyama) into that practice. This style of yoga is more accurately described as Hatha Yoga.
Under this Hatha Yoga umbrella, we here at OMgyc offer three varieties of classes:

Vinyasa Flow which emphasizes breath to movement, where you move in and out of poses with your inhales and exhales. Sun Salutations or Moon Salutations are featured in these practices and accompanying sequences are created by each teacher. OMgyc Classes in this category: Breath & Body Yoga, Soul Flow Yoga, Flow & Let Go Yoga, Relax & Recharge Yoga, Rise & Shine Yoga, Sweat & Stretch Yoga.

Yin Yoga emphasizes deeper and longer passive holds, often for 3-5 minutes, targeting connective tissue. Many people find yin yoga to be very relaxing however, long periods of silence coupled with the intensity of the poses can be challenging to individuals who are constantly on the move (physically or mentally). Yin yoga can be a great tool during injury recovery. OMgyc Classes in this category: Deep Stretch & Zen Yoga.

Restorative Yoga uses props such as blankets, pillows and blocks to support the body in seated or reclined poses. The purpose of this practice is to allow the body to completely relax while you focus on your breath to relieve stress. Restorative yoga can also be a great tool during injury recovery. OMgyc Classes in this category: The Soul-Storation Series (offered on January 13, February 10 & March 10)
